News Release: Property Tax Payment Deadline

The 2014 property tax payment deadline is quickly approaching.  The Cowlitz County Treasurer, Kathy Hanks is reminding property owners that they have until Friday, October 31st to pay the second half of their 2014 property taxes.

Basics of Composting

On October 29 at 6:00 p.m., WSU Extension program assistant Tom Welch will teach how to effectively compost food wastes and garden material.  Learn the different ways to compost and the advantages of each method.  Those attending the class can purchase a Composting bin (normally $85) for $10.  Cowlitz County Department of Public Works are selling the bins.  This offer is for Cowlitz County residents only and only 1 bin per household can be purchased.  The free class is being held at the Cowlitz County Training Center, 1942 First Avenue in Longview, located on the dike just

RV parking available for families visiting Longview Hospice Care Center

LONGVIEW, Wash., October 6, 2014 – Community Hospice announces the addition of recreational vehicle (RV) parking at the Longview Hospice Care Center. Patients’ families may park their RV in the on-site spaces for short-term use during their family member’s stay at the center. Community is pleased this service will allow families to stay near loved ones during a difficult time.

The spaces have electric and water hook-ups. Access may be obtained at­ the care center from 8 am – 5 pm daily. RV parking is free, however, donations are graciously accepted.
