Water Shortage Emergency – Stage 1

A “major electrical failure” at the Longview Westlake Chemical Company plant in June has rippled out across Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Northern California as chlorine chemicals used to disinfect drinking water and treat wastewater have become scarce.

The City of Longview has declared a water shortage emergency – Stage 1. What does this mean to you?

Stage 1. The following measures shall apply:

 City water system users utilizing city water for irrigation shall conform to the following landscape-watering schedule:

Oregon Way Road Construction

Oregon Way Road Construction

Beginning June 21, 2021 there will be no on-street parking on Oregon Way from Tennant Way to Cypress Street.
This closure is the first of several associated with the rehabilitation of street pavement and sidewalks along Oregon Way from Tennant Way to Baltimore. These closures ensure contractor and public safety during the construction project.
Additional future notices will be given for additional closures.

New Four-Way Stop Intersection

New Four-Way Stop Intersection

In cooperation with Kelso School District and City of Kelso and as recommended in a traffic study conducted for the Kelso School District, the intersection of Columbia Heights Road / Fishers Lane / Long Avenue will be converted from a two-way stop to a four-way stop. Preparations for this conversion will take place over the coming weeks.

Conversion to a four-way stop will take place on a date yet to be determined, sometime after July 4.

More information will be released as it becomes available.

Our Mercy Corps Northwest Southern Washington office serves Clark, Cowlitz, and Skamania counties via resources for entrepreneurs and small business owners. We focus on low income individuals and those in all stages of a business cycle (idea, start-up, existing). We have services available in both English and Spanish.
