Street Crimes Unit detectives arrest man with meth at Lake Sacajawea
Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2, Longview Police Street Crimes Unit detectives arrested a man after
seeing him, another man and people walk into a Lake Sacajawea bathroom on the Nichols
Boulevard side near 16th Avenue. Thinking it was suspicious activity, the detectives knocked
on the door to contact the three inside the bathroom.
One SCU detective saw what appeared to be a pistol in the pocket of the hooded sweatshirt
one man was wearing. It turned out the item was actually an airsoft BB pistol. The man,
identified as 40-year-old Christopher L. Wornick, told the detectives he had
methamphetamine in his pocket. In checking for possible additional weapons on Wornick,
detectives found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine on him.
Detectives arrested Wornick and booked him in the Cowlitz County Jail for suspicion of
possession of methamphetamine. Wornick is listed as a local transient.
“The department will continue to monitor the area for illegal activity. If you observe law
violations, we encourage you to contact our dispatch center to make a report at 360-577-
3098,” said LPD Captain Robert Huhta.
