Nichols Boulevard Pavement Rehabilitation Project
The City of Longview has contracted with Advanced Excavating Specialists to construct improvements along Nichols Boulevard from Washington Way to Louisiana Street. Construction on the project began May 6, 2019. During the week of July 1 to July 5, 2019, work on the project will be stopped to accommodate Go Fourth Festival events.
Asphalt pavement replacement will begin July 8, 2019. This work will grind off the existing asphalt surface on Nichols Blvd and replace it with new asphalt. Lane closures, intersection closures, and traffic detours will be in effect for this work. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around work zones. Paving work will begin in the northbound lane of Nichols Blvd and will last for approximately three weeks. Northbound vehicle traffic will be detoured to Kessler Blvd between Washington Way and Ocean Beach Highway until July 29, 2019.
The intersection at Washington Way and Nichols Blvd will be closed on Saturday, July 27, 2019, for completion of paving work. Vehicle traffic will be detoured around the intersection for this work.
Once work in the northbound lane is completed, work in the southbound lane will begin and will last for approximately one week. Southbound vehicle traffic will be detoured to 30th Avenue between Ocean Beach Highway and Washington Way until August 5, 2019.
Remaining work on the project will include improvements to existing traffic and pedestrian signals. This work is scheduled to last through the end of August. All dates are subject to change based on construction progress and weather.
In order to avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
