Longview Public Library Featured Artist: Cheryl Hicks

The Longview Public Library and the Longview Library Foundation are excited to present the 2019 Featured Artist: Cheryl Hicks. Cheryl is originally from Texas and relocated to Longview two years ago. She has shown her artwork across Texas and in New York, and has an extensive collection on display in the historic Monticello Hotel. Cheryl didn’t start making art until she was forty years old, but in the last 20 years she has created almost 1,000 pieces of artwork. Cheryl has an ongoing series titled, “I Just Don’t Read Like I Used To,” in which she examines the ways Pop Culture and technology have impacted our lives, especially our reading habits.

From August 6 through August 31 the Koth Memorial Gallery at Longview Public Library will display some of Cheryl’s new canvases from the “I Just Don’t Read Like I Used To” series. On August 12, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., there will be a public reception in the Koth Memorial Gallery where you can meet Cheryl, our 2019 Featured Artist!

A special thanks to the Longview Library Foundation for making the Featured Artist program possible through their generous donations and continued support.
