New L&I webinars provide details on new agricultural overtime law

To help agricultural employers and workers understand the changes in the new law regarding overtime for agricultural workers, the Washington Department of Labor & Industries has scheduled a series of webinars.

With passage of Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5172, dairy workers will be eligible for overtime after working 40 hours in a workweek effective July 25, 2021.

Determination of severe weather event concluded

City Manager Kurt Sacha has determined that the severe weather event designated on June 26, 2021 will conclude today, June 30, 2021. The weather forecast now indicates that high temperatures in Longview are expected to be below 90 degrees.

Pursuant to LMC 7.30, permitted emergency shelters may continue to provide emergency shelter services for up to but not beyond two more days.

New Four-Way Stop Intersection

New Four-Way Stop Intersection

As previously shared, the intersection of Columbia Heights Road / Fishers Lane / Long Avenue will be converted from a two-way stop to a four-way stop. The conversion of this two-way stop intersection to a four-way stop intersection will take place on Sunday, July 11, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

One-lane closures should be expected. Motorists should expect delays throughout the day and are advised to use alternative routes if available.

Street improvements are scheduled to start on California Way from Baltimore Street to the 7th Avenue intersection on Thursday, July 1, 2021, 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. This is a full street closure on California Way from Baltimore Street to 7th Avenue and a traffic detour will be provided around work area using other streets.

Motorist should expect delays during this time. Local access to business will be provided by Contractor during closure.
