Open House on West Longview Annexation

The City Of Longview, in cooperation with Cowlitz County and Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue, is
seeking to annex approximately 237 acres of land into the city through an interlocal
agreement annexation process. The proposed annexation area includes all the land in West
Longview that is currently not located within City limits and is along the Ocean Beach
Highway corridor between 40th Avenue and 52nd Avenue. The area includes property on
both the north and south sides of Ocean Beach Highway.

Determination of severe weather event concluded

City Manager Kurt Sacha has determined that effective Wednesday, January 16 the severe
weather event designated on January 13 will conclude. The weather forecast now indicates
that low temperatures in Longview will be consistently above freezing (32 degrees).

The Longview Public Library and WordFest offer writing workshop series in 2019

In partnership with WordFest, the Longview Public Library will offer an eight week series of
writing workshops for the public in early 2019.

Participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss their writing in terms of basic
elements of good storytelling, including how to open one's story, introducing and developing
characters, plotting a story, creating dramatic dialogue, and more.

We are looking for Volunteers to cook for patients and families in our care centers for a few hours a week

Determination of severe weather event

Pursuant to Ordinance No. 3357 codified as LMC 7.30, Severe Weather Shelters, City Manager Kurt Sacha has determined that a severe weather event is imminent based on forecasted cold weather conditions beginning Sunday night, January 13, 2019. Low temperatures in the Longview area are currently predicted to be at or below 32 degrees beginning that night and for the next two days.
