Giving Tuesday (and not just money) for 27 Local Non-Profits

United Way is championing this effort for our community, which is an event done worldwide in numerous cities every year. It is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday etc.

This event is facilitated by many United Way’s globally to help their local communities. Non-profits and community centered organizations can create a wish list (assembled in our catalog on our website link attached) of anything they need. Many people think of giving as monetary, but there are so many other ways to give. There are things that these organizations need from time to time to meet client or service needs, to maintain operations, or sometimes there is a surprise or urgent need. Wish list items can range from asking people to donate a specific amount of blood for a blood drive, asking for volunteers for specific project needs, new board members, grant writers, office supplies, furniture, client materials, clothing, food, etc. etc. Think of giving on a full 360 degree spectrum. Those that may not be able to donate to places monetarily may be able to GIVE by participating in Giving Tuesday. They may have a box of unused American Flags at home, which would be perfect to fit the needs of Veterans Services for veteran gravestone flags (on their catalog wish list). Giving Tuesday is the 2nd biggest day of giving following December 25th worldwide. We want to put Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties on the map for this!

On November 28th, those that wish to give to a particular wish list item/agency can take those items directly to the place mentioned on their wish list catalog page. United Way of Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties is tracking EVERYTHING donated on Giving Tuesday and will report results of impact to the community via all media channels. We appreciate you guys helping us to get the word out and make a difference for our community!
